Queen Bee - Honeysuckle Hybrid

$65.00

If you are looking to replace an old queen or make spring splits our queens are a great option, we have a proven reputation of the quality of our queens we produce. We will only sell queens that are proven to meet the standards of quality that we expect, because of this our queens are not usually available early in the spring as New Jersey weather does not allow for quality mating until mid/late April.

We call our queens honeysuckle hybrids. We graft them from our best overwintered stock. Selected for gentleness, good hygiene, honey and brood production, with a history of success in our climate here in New Jersey. They vary in color, we produce many with the tiger stripe coloring as well as dark and light queens. The genetics in our operation are a good mix of different genetics combined with our local genes over time.

Our 2025 Queens will expect to be FIRST AVALABLE MID MAY. When you make your order be aware that this is the earliest they will be available. Availability is first come first serve, we will let you know your position on our list so you will have an idea of when your queens will be ready. During June-August queen availability is much higher.

You can always email honeysucklenectary@gmail.com with any questions.

Our queens are local pickup only, we are located in Howell, NJ right in the middle of the state. We do local pickups within our area.

Our process is, we cage the queen shortly before your scheduled pickup so they spend the least amount of time outside the hive. When we receive your order we will communicate with you when we get close to the pickup date so we can set up a specific time and location for pickup.

One thing we do not do is mark queens. It is our opinion that the benefits do not outweigh the risks, also marks are often removed by worker bees. We also strongly believe every beekeeper should train their eyes to find an unmarked queen as colonies requeen themselves and a color dot can not always be counted on when queen hunting.
